Hello there.

I, Blaze Shadowhorn, Co-Founder here at Kingsisle Universe, have recently announced my departure from the community as I must focus on my schooling and IRL life. Sadly, this means I must also resign from KU. It was a great time while it lasted but I must resign. I know that Ria will do an amazing job keeping it up as well as our amazing staff and I hope you all will continue to support KU and the community in every way possible.

Thank you all for the amazing time here and all the memories. I will definately cherish this forever. To read my goodbye post on my blog, click here.

Oh dear, sorry for the lack of posts - we at KU have been very VERY busy (as usual), getting things set up and completed. I must say that things have been going quite well and progress is going on right under our noses!

Anyhow, I've been playing Pirate101 in Head Start! Head Start is the week before Live, where those who buy Boochbeard/Gandry Bundles, purchased membership, have received a gift certificate, have bought a GameStop card, or have played in Beta (excluding the Sneak-Peek only players) can start their characters off and get playing! I think it was a very good idea, and I've been cashing in the training points, definitely! Everywhere, I see pirates getting settled in Skull Island, sailing about, and enjoying the abundance of Yum-Yum Fruit - it's everywhere! 

Besides that, I've run iinto a lot of fun glitches - my teleport button leading me under the docks, running without entering, invisible tokens that pop up right before battle, and one slightly messed up troggy fight! All in good fun, I say - would doesn't like  laugh after a hard day of blogging, questing, tennis, cellos, and whathaveyou. 

Once again, I'd like to wish Ria another happy year, i.e. her belated birthday.

Cue the fanfare! On this day many years ago (as not to reveal anything), our dear founder Imagination/Ria Drake was born, and today we rejoice in another year passing. 

Ria, thank you for being so kind to me when I was going through hard times and helping me out when I needed it, the list is endless but when you opened up KU, I entered a place where I felt very cared about and at home. All the hard work that you've put into this site has made a difference in me, if not many. Thanks for making the staff's avatars and paying for the domain name - and for looking through my writing when I needed a critic. When you go do something special today, I want you to have a spring in your step, and know that we're all behind you. Keep Traveling on life's path. Like every trail, yours will have its own unique twists and turns. Stay on it, and you'll find yourself surrounded by your success. Happy birthday to a very treasured friend.

Pirate101 Launch Date Announced!

"You heard me! For a few months, I've been annoying the non-players IRL about Pirate101, and now they can finally try it! Pirate101 will be released for Bundle Buyers on October 8th, and will be released to everybody on October 15th! Check this Venture Beat article explaining more!

Beta Players: What are you most anticipating when you get to play Live? Is there one change to gameplay that you wanted to see? What about the crowd?

(I don't like the tokens on deck - it's already hard enough for me to battle broadside, but this just makes it frustrating!)

Pirate101 Bundles/Gift Cards Announced!

 

"Because of its success, KingsIsle has some big partners helping with its launch. GameStop, the world’s largest game retailer, will sell bundles of prepaid currency cards for Pirate101 at each store’s front desk. Players can buy cards in packs worth $10, $20, or $39. Anyone who purchases a bundle (up to $89), participated in the beta, or buys certain membership types will be able to begin playing on Oct. 8. The launch strategy is similar to what KingsIsle did in 2010 with the launch of a major expansion for Wizard101.

MooShu is ruled by the Emperor, who is considered the Child of the Spirit of the Sun, and is served by legions of loyal Samoorai. The Cows of MooShu form the ruling class made up warriors, princes and master artisans. They are attended by Goat bureaucrats and ministers, while the Sheep and Pig peasants humbly work the land. The people of MooShu are notoriously secretive and suspicious of outsiders; foreign ships are only allowed to dock in one port, the resplendent city of Hamamitsu, without special permission, and only the mysterious Wizards have ever walked in the Imperial Skyway or visited the Imperial Palace.

For generations, MooShu has enjoyed a special relationship with the realm of Marleybone: in exchange for generous tribute payments, the Emperor grants the Dogs of Marleybone exclusive control of the tea trade and unfettered access to all of MooShu's Stormgates. This treaty keeps the trade lanes to the prosperous colony of Port Regal open – and has made MooShu a critical hub in Marleybone’s mercantile empire.

The realm of MooShu is spiritual to its very core: the ancient philosophy of Caoism has long guided mystics and sages toward hidden truths that cannot be named, and the common folk draw comfort from the teachings of the Moodha. The Monks of MooShu devote themselves to physical and spiritual perfection on their quest for enlightenment. Order, harmony, and serenity are the pillars of MooShu's society.

But recently this has changed. The Emperor lies stricken, cursed by dark magic, and the realm reflects the suffering of its sovereign. Throughout the outer skyways bandits and renegade warlords run rampant, oppressing the weak and defying Imperial law. Sensing weakness, the grim Horse nomads of the Amber Horde have swept in from the distant hinterlands, and are ravaging entire provinces. The most powerful of the Samoorai scheme and plot their future, preparing for the succession war that will come if the Emperor should die. These times of strife have drawn the more unsavory elements of MooShu out of the shadows: the nefarious Yakooza and dreaded Ninja Pigs are more active than ever before.
